Root gap
- the minimum distance between the ends of the elements to be welded which is measured during the assembly of the butt joint for welding
positioning and measurement taking
- Lower the fillet arm 2 or the taper gauge 5 into the groove until they come into contact with the ends of the elements to be welded .
- Take the value of the parameter b on the appropriate scale.
